FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 22, 2014    Michigan Black Expo Engages New Fiduciary Partnership to Support Detroit Helping Detroit Organization    METRO GRAND RAPIDS & METRO DETROIT – A dynamic new collaboration between non-profit society enhancement organization – Michigan Black Expo, Inc. (MBEI) – and a new Detroit-based collective of entertainment industry philanthropists – Detroit Helping Detroit (DHD) – has resulted in the launch of the new MBEI-DHD Fiduciary Partnership (MBEDHD).  This fiduciary vehicle – initiated by DHD Founder and Executive Director of Operations Mr. Robin M. Chichester in conjunction with MBEI leadership – will enable DHD to receive tax-deductible funding through MBEI’s non-profit infrastructure that will support DHD’s mission to galvanize financial support for organizations that address the needs of Detroit’s marginalized communities.
DHD Founder Chichester states, “It is my pleasure to officially announce our fiduciary partnership with MBEI.  It will be the work of DHD and its close group of artists and professionals from the Detroit entertainment industry to focus on helping the homeless, the poor and the disenfranchised of Detroit. If people know of someone who desperately needs a critical bill paid or know of a struggling family that needs a helping hand, please have them contact DHD for assistance.  If someone has the will to help, we can work together to make a change in Detroit”.  Additionally, Chichester has indicated that DHD has attracted the attention of both local and national artists who are interested in donating their time to the DHD cause and to not only help rebuild Detroit, but to help DHD enable its constituents to succeed.
Following last year’s successful fiduciary partnership between MBEI and Grand Rapids-based Mr. B’s Basketball, Reading & Math Camp, the MBEDHD fiduciary partnership is now unfolding concurrently with MBEI’s multi-faceted urban media and youth enhancement endeavors.  These initiatives include 1] the work of MBEI’s Urban Media/Youth Enhancement Advocacy Council (UMYE) to produce urban media-based opportunities to transform at-risk youth into successful and upright young adults and 2] the work to generate awareness and financial support for implementing MBEI’s long-planned URBRadio urban media platform and its inter-connected Youth TeleCommunications Institute (YTC) and Youth Music Institute (YMI) urban media industry technical schools as well as plans for a statewide academic achievement, heritage enrichment and public service youth group for Michigan public schools students.
